Lessons from a bump to the head

I fell a few weeks ago and to cut a long story short I faceplanted onto the pavement (sidewalk for those in the US) and ended up with a nasty bruise around my eye!! Not a pretty sight and a talking point for many days! I expected it to disappear within a few days and go back to normal but it's taken time to sort itself out with superficial stuff happening quicker and the deeper stuff taking a bit longer.
