Fiona, thanks so much for the blog carnival! I really enjoyed reading the posts. Your website has provided me with numerous resources that have been very helpful – just downloaded your latest ebook and am looking forward to reading that too! I have 2 beautiful and fantastic adopted boys, but the last year has been a difficult one – mostly due to other people’s (i.e. non-adopters) failure to understand some of the emotional and behavioural issues that one of my sons is experiencing. That can make one feel incredibly isolated as a parent. Being able to ‘drop in’ to your website has been reassuring and reminds me that I’m not alone! Thank you!

In answer to your question, disability is not an automatic exclusion – it will depend whether it is judged to affect an individual’s ability to parent. This is the advice from BAAF (published in Be My Parent) Can I adopt or foster if I have a disability

Your local adoption agency should be able to advise on their policy. Email me fiona@adoptresources.co.uk if you want to discuss things in more detail…

I have bene following the whole less adoption topic and finding it very interesting. A friend is currently fostering a child but has been told it could be a year before the child is moved into a family. It makes me feel sad that my friend is gonig to get attached to this small child and then have to say goodbye.
